My name is Colin Hunter. I am a professional landscape photographer based in County Durham, England.

Landscape photography includes countryside and urban.  Mainly outdoors in all weather, sometimes the conditions make the work challenging. Images range from the tranquil through to the dramatic often via the quirky and thought provoking. Landscape Photography is my focus but I also photograph events in the North East of England, such as the Durham Miners’ Gala and Country and Agricultural shows.

I work with digital SLR’s, mainly the Canon 5D MkIII, and I try to capture the scene in the camera as accurately as possible so there is little post processing. Generally, with the exception of a little tweaking of contrast and the shadows, what I see at the time of taking the image is what you see on the screen or print.

This is my father.

He enlisted into the Royal Marines in May 1945 and passed for duty in April 1946. He served on ships mainly and was on HMS London as she sailed up the Yangtse River, China to attempt the relief of HMS Amethyst in 1948.

He spent most of his working life in the armed forces.

This is small collection of photographs of him as a serving Royal Marine.
